Granny Smith

2022

Granny Smith is a two-story mixed-use project in the heart of Ayutthaya. It features six 18-square-meter rental shops, a 30-square-meter owner-operated shop, and a private residence. planned to create a dynamic yet measured addition to the old town, the project employs curved lines and bright tones to enhance its modern aesthetic while respecting the historic context. A single-load corridor design ensures all shops are easily accessible and visible from the street, promoting energy efficiency by allowing natural ventilation throughout common areas.

The space is defined as a two-storey mixed-use project in Ayutthaya that combines rental shops, an owner shop, and residence with curved lines and natural ventilation. The primary design logic dictates that six small rental shops and one owner shop create a compact commercial community.

A Mixed-Use Street Edge For Ayutthaya
"A Mixed-Use Street Edge For Ayutthaya" is the closing idea for Granny Smith. It brings the project back to two design moves: how six small rental shops and one owner shop create a compact commercial community and how light tones help the new building sit within the old-town context.
